She Knows Her Worth

Sometimes I will meet a woman, and we will just click. I felt that way when I met Kara, one of my Babe Ambassadors. She has a bubbly, magnetic personality, and her energy spread through the entire studio. Before we even headed downstairs to start hair and makeup, we were already laughing. You know it’s gonna be a kickass shoot when that happens.

Kara became a Babe Ambassador because she wants to change the way women feel in front of the camera. When she was younger, she aspired to model, and as she matured, her body changed. Photographers and agencies told her they didn’t want to work with her because of her size (which I think we can all agree is actually beautiful – f@ck those photographers who told her otherwise.)

“Women come in all shapes and sizes and we are all worthy of love and support and all deserve a chance to feel sexy in our skin. I want […] to prove to others that it’s ok to be different and look different. Our uniqueness is what helps make us all so beautiful…inside and out! I want to inspire others to accept themselves and love themselves because I know what it’s like to struggle with that.”

After hearing about her story, I knew I had to get her in the boudoir studio. It’s evident that she’s killer in front of the camera – a total boudoir muse – but I think her attitude makes her beautiful. She knows her worth. She values herself, and even though it took time, she can look at herself with love.

“To love oneself is the beginning of a life-long romance.” – Oscar Wilde

Kara’s advice to other women who want to find their self-worth through boudoir? “Boudoir is a style that really lets you be raw and just be yourself. You don’t have to fit a specific look, you just get to embrace your sexiness and rock it!”

She’s right, ya know.

We all need to acknowledge our worth. Someone will always be there to criticize us or tell us why we aren’t good enough, but we can have the courage to look at them and tell them why we are. The most important opinion of ourselves should come from within.

“Don’t rely on someone else for your happiness and self-worth. Only you can be responsible for that. If you can’t love and respect yourself – no one else will be able to make that happen. Accept who you are – completely; the good and the bad – and make changes as YOU see fit – not because you think someone else wants you to be different.” – Stacey Charter
