Radiant Babe: Nicole

Recently, I had the honor of photographing a phenomenal group of babes. It was a day of laughter, self-love and growth. During the shoot, I asked each one to tell me about their relationships with their bodies, and each woman had a different story to tell. They were allowed to share as much or as little as they wanted. I’d like to take the opportunity to share their stories as a way to recognize the strength of each of them individually and hopefully other women those with similar feelings about their bodies.

Nicole’s Story: “Growing up, I was ashamed of my body because I was never thin, and I was tall. I didn’t blend in with the other kids my age, and they made sure I knew it. I struggled with major depression and a mild stint with an eating disorder. It took me until I was 18 to start gaining confidence in myself. I began taking ballroom dance classes; it taught me posture and elegance. I then signed up for acting and modeling classes. It taught me to walk, talk and act with confidence. Shoulders back, head not looking ashamedly at the floor but straight ahead and with a smile. It’s amazing how others respond when you own who you are. I am blessed to be able ton model and represent other women that have curves and show them that it is ok!

What do you do to feel radiant? I work out with a trainer 2x/week, perform with a belly dance troupe, take bachata lessons and dance socially, and hike. I try to eat well and duel my body with good nutrition. Do I feel radiant every day? Not even close. But I try to accept the days that I don’t and realize that feeling is temporary.”

Ready to celebrate your body? Let’s set up a session!
