Radiant Babe: Christine

Recently, I had the honor of photographing a phenomenal group of babes. It was a day of laughter, self-love and growth. During the shoot, I asked each one to tell me about their relationships with their bodies, and each woman had a different story to tell. They were allowed to share as much or as little as they wanted. Today is our final story from the Radiant Photo Shoot.

Christine’s Story: “I’ve had a horrible body image since I was 12 years old. I have severe scoliosis. My spine was not only curved but twisted so badly that my right rib cage was threatening to crush my heart and lung. the deformity was very obvious.

I had to have that surgically corrected at 13 years old. The orthopedic surgeon fused a 13 inch titanium Harrington rod to my spine so I now have a scar from the middle of my shoulders to the top of my butt. And I still have a hunch on my back. My body wasn’t beautiful and people asked about my deformities and stared, so I hid it underneath clothes. Not until I became comfortable with who I am as a person and who I am as a woman did I find the confidence to show the story my body tells with pride.”
