Follow this guide to unlock the secrets of capturing your confidence through the lens of your phone.
I included inspiration images from photo sessions I did over Zoom. Folks were posing while I screenshot them and edited the images later. It's in the same realm as what most people can do with a smartphone, so I hope they inspire you!
1. Set the Scene
Create a comfortable and aesthetically pleasing space for your shoot. Consider factors like lighting, background, and overall ambiance. Natural light works wonders, so choose a room with ample sunlight or experiment with soft artificial lighting like lamps for a more intimate atmosphere.
2. Wardrobe Selection
Pick out lingerie or outfits that make you feel sexy and confident. Whether it's a lacy set, a cozy sweater, or nothing at all – the choice is entirely yours. Select pieces that reflect your personality and make you feel empowered.
PS - how do you get a shot like that? You put your phone on top of your ceiling fan blade!
3. Posing with Purpose
Strike poses that accentuate your favorite features and make you feel fabulous. Experiment with angles and poses to find what feels most authentic to you. Don't be afraid to explore different expressions and moods to capture the full spectrum of your beauty. A few tips:
Whatever is closest to the camera will appear bigger. If your booty or chest is pushed towards the camera, it's going to be the main focus! Keep hands "soft." Fingers balled up into a fist won't photograph well. Think "delicate fingers" or give your hands something to do, like pulling on a bra strap or playing with hair.
If something can bend, bend it! Tilt your head, bend your knees and keep a little bend in your elbows.
4. Smartphone Setup
Optimize your smartphone settings for the best results. Ensure your phone is set to its highest resolution and experiment with features like portrait mode or manual focus. Consider using a tripod or propping your phone up securely to keep it steady during the shoot. For an even easier set up, I recommend recording yourself. Then, go back and watch the recording and screenshot your favorite moments. Then you can keep moving and posing to really get into it instead of running back and forth from your camera to your spot. If you have a bluetooth shutter button, that can be super helpful, as well!
5. Timing and Patience
Take your time and be patient with yourself. Rome wasn't built in a day, and your DIY boudoir photo shoot doesn't need to be rushed. Allow yourself the freedom to experiment, review shots, and make adjustments as needed. This isn't something to cram into a 5 minute window your have in your schedule.
6. Edit with Care
After the shoot, explore editing apps to enhance your images subtly. Adjust lighting, contrast, and color tones to achieve the desired mood. Remember, the goal is to celebrate your natural beauty, so embrace editing as a tool to enhance, not transform. Your body is a good body, and you do not need to change its shape or size!
