How Much Body Hair is “Boudoir” Appropriate?

This isn’t a click bait title, so we’re gonna get to the answer right now: AS MUCH BODY HAIR AS YOU WANT. You can shave, wax or pluck as much or as little as you like. Your body grows hair – it’s natural, and I’m not here to tell you to remove it.

Many women do shave or wax before their session, but it’s up to them and what they feel comfortable with. You can have pubic hair. I won’t care. No boudoir photographer should care…not if they are actually body positive. You can have arm pit hair, arm hair, hair above your lip or on your legs. If you don’t shave or wax on a regular basis, you don’t have to for your shoot. We’re embracing you and your body.

If you shave, cool! That works for me, too. I’d recommend shaving the day or night before so you don’t have to worry about knicks, cuts or shave bumps. You can also wax. You won’t deal with any of those unruly or irritating shave bumps this way. I recommend waxing a few days before since your skin will be sensitive and red right after.

Body hair grows on YOUR body, so do whatever you’d like with it. Let it grow, shave it off, dye it pink – you do you, babe.

XOXO, Alicia
