Everyone Struggles with Body Confidence

When I met Babe C, I immediately thought “holy smokes, she’s gorgeous.” As we talked, I learned she’s also smart, funny, competitive, an amazing mom and really genuine. We clicked right away. She is such a cool woman.

Even though I saw these amazing qualities and thought she was a literal goddess on earth, she didn’t see herself that way. The way we see people might not be how they see themselves, and that’s ok.

I used to take it as a personal attack when someone I deemed prettier than me felt less than. I assumed that people who were – by society’s standards – better looking than me must also feel better than me. That was an unfair way of thinking on my part. It’s unfair for us to project our idea of who should be body confident and who shouldn’t onto people. It took me a long time to realize that.

I have a met a lot of people doing this job, and do you know what they all have in common? They are all insecure about something. Every. Single. One.

And that sucks, but diet culture, the fashion industry and beauty retailers get to us all.

When you do something to break apart those negative thoughts and self-hatred, you’re being a badass rebel! Babe C is a rebel. She fought her insecurities. She embraced her body. She had fun. She told her inner critic to shut up, and that’s awesome. I’m so proud of her.

What did you love about your session? Did you feel like you grew in any ways? Share as much as you’d like! I loved how comfortable Alicia made me feel. I think that translated in to my photos. I am usually very critical but I was surprised I liked so many of the pictures she took.. I had an absolute blast.

Would you ever do another boudoir shoot? 100%

Do you feel like you have a better relationship with your body? What will you do in the future to show yourself some self-love? That’s something I’ll need to continue to work on but this photoshoot definitely helped.

Any words of advice to someone who is nervous about boudoir? Have fun! This is your opportunity to celebrate what makes you, you.

Why did you choose Buxom Boudoir? I love that Alicia’s photos represent all different types of women and she’s great at making you feel and look beautiful.

If you’re struggling to silence your inner critic, maybe I can help. Maybe a boudoir shoot will help you see how incredible and worthy your body is. If a boudoir shoot isn’t for you, start a different self-love practice. Say affirmations. Spend time alone. You deserve to overcome your insecurities.
