Las Vegas Nevada…there’s a lot that can be said about this city. From its flashing neon lights to the constant flow of frozen margaritas, Las Vegas feels like it’s always throwing a giant party, and this year, I knew I wanted to get in on that celebration. What better place to celebrate our bodies than at a gorgeous hotel near the Strip that’s forever partying?
I was amped up to meet and photograph women in Las Vegas, but, as I am with anything new I try, I was a little nervous, too. All those nerves dissipated when I met Babe J. We immediately clicked and I gladly would have listened to her stories all day, but since she came all the way to the Rio Hotel for a shoot, I figured I better bring out the camera.
Babe J is phenomenal at embracing and celebrating her body. When she started sharing photos of herself and her story on Instagram, she didn’t think much would come of it. Women message her now and tell her how much they appreciate being told their bodies are sexy and beautiful. It’s still a relatively new thing for bigger women to say “hey, I’m gorgeous” to the public. Babe J is doing that, and I’m glad we were able to connect. She mentioned that it’s hard to find photographers in Vegas who shoot plus size women, and when she does, they don’t understand how to photograph a plus size woman’s curves. This is why it’s so important to me that I shoot a diverse group of women. I want to make sure I know how to photograph women of every shape and size. Every woman should celebrate her body and every boudoir photograph should be able to help her do that!
