4 Facts About Your Boudoir Session

1. No one is judging you. My studio is totally judgement-free. I don’t care if you have stretch marks, cellulite, eczema, rolls, freckles or whatever. I want you to work on not caring either. You’re not allowed to judge you. I don’t allow self deprecating talk and will (gently) remind you to be kind to yourself during our session. There’s no diet talk, no self-hatred and no intentional weight loss chatter. This is a space where I want you to feel comfortable, safe and joyful – a space where you can be 100%, authentically you.

2. You don’t have to know how to pose. I will walk you through all the poses. I do not expect you to know what to do – no worries there! I’ll show you what I want you to do, I’ll tell you how to move, and I’ll tweak poses to make sure they look the best for you. You can totally practice at home if you want, though! The more confident you feel during your shoot, the better, and if practicing your facial expressions and posing beforehand will help you feel confident, do it! Boudoir poses need back arching, pushing the chest out, pushing the booty out, and gently breathing through a slightly open mouth. If you can do that, you’re on your way!

3. Alcohol is a bad idea (before the shoot anyways.) There are two reasons I don’t have alcohol at my session. 1) I found out that any business that provides alcohol, even if it’s free, needs to have a liquor license. I stopped having wine in the studio the minute I found that out! 2) Alcohol can cause flushed cheeks, sweat, and (if too much is consumed) not great behavior. You’re investing a lot of time, effort and money into this session. Don’t you want to look and feel your best? You don’t want to look tipsy in your photos. That’s not the look we’re going for. After the shoot, though, go for it! Live it up, babe! Just make sure you’re responsible.

4. You don’t have to wear lingerie. If you don’t own any lingerie or it’s just not your jam, you don’t have to wear lingerie. Crop tops, white tank tops, fur coats, sheer tops, booty shorts and even PJs can work for boudoir. If you do want to wear lingerie, I recommend teddies, bodysuits, and matching bras and panties. I have lots of items at the studio you can borrow, too. If nothing seems to work, just shoot in your birthday suit! Nothing is better than the body you were born with.
